This is a wonderful ice boat named the "Roosevelt" sailing on the Gouwzee. The boat was inspired by and modeled from the actual Roosevelt on which the artist, Frans Dekker and his wife, had the pleasure of riding on. As a reward for being able to sail with him, Frans made this model of the Roosevelt in a bottle for the sailor of the boat. After taking some pictures and measurements of the ice boat, the artist made a drawing of the ice ship and found out that the sizes had to be a scale of 1:33. The bottle needed to have wide bottom and a small top. A decanter was ideal for the purpose. The hull is 8.5 cm long and 2.3 cm wide. The ice is a synthetic resin with a little drop of white paint in it and it look just as ice. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper with a Turk head knot around the neck. The top is sealed with sealing wax and the signature of the artist in it.
