Bottle 487 - Mediator

This is a model of the "Mediator" a Sloop-of-War ship built in 1741. This ship is built as a whole hull model with keel. The hull is planked with individual strips of wood with the bottom painted white and the top in natural wood color. The ship has anchors suspended on the bow of the ship. The bowsprit is built in two sections and has black rigging. The ship has a quarterdeck, poopdeck, and bulwarks. The ship has eight cannons and displays a deckhouse, windlass, capstan, hatches, ship's wheel, and life boat. The ship has a single mast and displays black standing and brown running rigging lines with block and tackle. The mast has both shroud lines and ratlines. The ship has six sails with sailcloth and reef lines displayed. The ship is secured to plinth block with two small brass dowels. On the block are plaques that read "Mediator 1741" on one side and "Steve Moseley 2006" on the other side. The bottle is sealed with a black metal screw cap.
