---|
Date Added: 10 May 2013
This is a late 1800’s Ship in a Bottle scene of a ship at anchor outside a town or city. The builder, perhaps a sailor, was very knowledgeable with ships and rigging. The construction is consistent with the simple tools and working conditions of early builders. The ship's hull is dark colored wood and has a deck with three cabins. There are four masts with very nice rigging. There is an unidentified blue and white stripped flag flying from the stern rigging.
Behind the ship is a landmass extending the length of the bottle. There are eight large houses or buildings, a clock tower with the time shown at three o'clock, and a lighthouse with an attached building. The bottle type is unknown but is marked with the following raised letter and numbers"A4, S7A, UGB". The bottle measures 11 ½ inches x 3 inches.
