Bottle 807 - PS Britannia, 1840
Date Added: 11 April 2013

This is a wonderfully made and highly detailed model of the PS Britannia, 1840, paddle steamer. This ship is sailing toward the bottom of the bottle and away from the neck. This is very unusual and in normally only found in models built in the Far East. The ship has a black hull with gold details and posts painted along the length of the hull. There are anchors mounted on the bow of the hull. Mid-ship are large paddles churning the water. The paddles are nicely detailed and there is a lifeboat suspended from davits on the paddle decks. The deck has multiple features including railing, cabin, pilot cabin, and windlass. There is a large smokestack mid-deck painted in silver with black stripes. Black smoke billows from the stack. There are three masts with both fixed and running rigging, including shrouds and ratlines. The ship has 12 sails and the Merchant Navy Ensign with Union Jack flying from the stern rigging. The bottle is sealed with the original cap and the length of the neck is wrapped in white thread.
