Bottle 708 - Cross and Symbols

This barber's Lanolin bottle contains a cross and many religious symbols associated with the crucifixion. There is a large cross, ornately carved with an plaque with INRI written in pencil. There are carved unidentified pieces of wood suspended form each side of the cross arm. The cross is mounted on a wooden base fastened securely to the bottom of the bottle. On one side of the base is are three stacked dice, a hammer or mallet, and a long pole with a sponge on the end and red thread around the sponge. On the other side is a pair of pliers, a flail, and a spear on a long pole with red thread tied to the spear. In front of the cross are three large nails or spikes. On the back of the cross is a ladder with 5 rungs. Under the wooden base is the date "3/22 1916" written in pencil. The bottle is sealed with a cork and outside the bottle is a an original metal cap with what looks like a small metal crown on top. The bottle is embossed with "Lanolin" on the front.
