Bottle 449 - Crosses and Symbols
Date Added: 02 November 2006

This is a old Listerine bottle containing three crosses and religious symbols of the crucifixion. All the items are made from wood and are left in the wood's natural color. The main cross is in the center and the cross arm is a mortise and tendon joint with a wooden peg in the center. It is mounted on a cross base in the bottom of the bottle. Under each arm of the main cross is another cross made in the same way. These crosses are set facing the opposite direction of the main cross and they too are mounted on the wooden base. To the front of the main cross is a wooden spear resting on the diagonal to the cross. Mounted to the front base and in front of the cross is a carve wooden shovel. On the back of the cross is a wooden ladder with 6 rungs. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper with a wooden cross piece keeping the stopper from being able to be removed. The outside of the stopper is shaped similar to a simple house with a hip roof. It, too, has a wooden peg running through it to hold the stopper tight in the bottle. The bottle is an old Lambert Pharmacal Company Listerine bottle.
