Bottle 448 - Jesus on Cross with Mary and Joseph |

Date Added: 02 November 2006
The is a scene of the crucifixion built in an unidentified octagonal bottle. Jesus is shown hanging on a black wooden cross. Jesus is made from a large paper cut out. At the base of the cross are two additional figures made from paper cutouts. One of the figures may be Mary, his mother, and the other figure could be Joseph. Behind the figure of Joseph are two long spear like shapes; one is painted red and the other yellow. Behind Mary is a wooden ladder with 7 rungs. In front of the cross are three additional shapes that resemble the spears but are only about 2 inches long. One is painted yellow, one blue and the last one is red. On the back side of the cross are five more of these spear shapes also about 2 inches long each. They too are painted in red, yellow, and blue colors. Around the entire base of the bottle are numerous cotton balls with blue color that gives the base an appearance of clouds. Under the scene and on the bottom of the bottle is a label with printed writing and a large red number 12. I do not know the language and its meaning. The bottle is sealed with a cork.
