---|
Date Added: 01 October 2005
This is early 1800 Loom built in a bottle. The loom is painted red and is built with 3 levels. The bottom level has blue and white checkered cloth being woven on the loom. Seated at the end of the loom is a porcelain girl doll. The girl has very detailed and delicate facial features. She has black hair and is wearing cloth top and skirt with an apron. Her arms are made from cloth and positioned on each side of the material being woven on the loom. You can see her leg with a high top black shoe resting on a treadle. The second or middle layer has a nearly identical scene with a similar doll dressed the same but with different colored clothes. The top of the loom has a much smaller and less detailed porcelain doll also clothed with cloth wrapped around her body. She appears to be a child and is sitting on the top of the loom beside a yarn winder wrapped with white threads. The bottle is sealed with a red painted wooden shaft and tamper proof cross piece. The top is sealed with a brownish colored disc like piece of wood. The bottle is a hand blown bottle with a pontil and an applied neck.
