This is an exceptional model of a Castle style Spinning Wheel in a bottle. The component parts of a castle wheel are stacked vertically with the flyer being positioned above the wheel. The spinning wheel is a three legged wheel, two up front that hold the treadle and one rear leg. There is a wheel, drive band, flyer assembly, maiden, treadle, footman, treadle connection, table, distaff, mother-of-all, and flyer whorl. The fly wheel has a drive band of red thread/rope that goes around the fly and the flyer whorl. The flyer whorl has 2 grooves or gears to control speed. The mother-of-all bar mounts the maidens, flyer, and tension knob. The footman is a straight piece of wood that connects the back of the treadle with the metal crank on the wheel. There is a large amount of flaxen or wool set up on the spinning wheel as if ready to spin. The spinning wheel parts are wonderfully turned on a lathe and have grooves at various points. The model is mounted inside the base inside the bottle that is "t" shaped. Under the base inside the bottle is the date 1915 and likely the name of the modeler and possibly where it was made. It is difficult to make out since it is cursive handwriting in possibly German. It could likely be read or made out by someone versed in the language since the writing is clear and excellent condition.
