Bottle 218 - HMS Bounty |
---|
Date Added: 01 October 2005
This is a very large model of the HMS Bounty sailing on a deep blue sea. The ship is wonderfully detailed. The hull is painted red and was assembled in 2 sections. The bulwarks are painted blue and the gun walls are black. The ships has 3 masts with 11 cloth sails complete with reef lines stitched to the yards and spars and 2 large banners flying from atop the masts. The standing rigging is black and contains shrouds and ratlines. The running rigging is off white. Each mast has a mast table with additional shrouds extending to the top. The deck is full of items including 4 cannons, capstan, windlass, grating, cat-heads, bitts, bollards, a longboat with oars, and rail-head. The stern has gold painted stanchions, with carvings, windows, and 2 ships lanterns. The ship has quarter galleys, rails and gunwale, and 3 channels or shroud tables on each side. The bottle is sealed with a cork and rope wrapped around the length of the neck. Unfortunately the lower portion of the bottles opening is chipped off. The maker, Andreas Fischer was a binnenfischer by trade and was a frequent guest of a restaurant owned by the seller of this auction. He made numerous ships in bottles and static ship models that were displayed around the restaurant and many were sold to guests and patrons of the restaurant.
