Bottle 1109 - Cross Section of Ship |
---|
Date Added: 18 December 2013
The inspiration for this cross section ship in a bottle is based on a late 18th century sloop plan. Rather than attempting to make an exact scale representation, I decided to introduce some whimsy to the project and simply give the idea of a look inside. The bottle is a 750ml decanter of excellent quality, most likely crystal glass. The model is approximately 4 inches wide and 1½ inched deep. Other than the ballast it was constructed entirely from wood, including the carved cannon.
