Date Added: 13 July 2010

This is an 1800's scene of Jesus on the cross with numerous religious symbols made by Henry .A. Poole of Reading, PA., and Hampton, VA where he was a resident at the National Soldiers Home. Jesus is wonderfully carved from wood and is shown in a blue loin cloth. Above his head is a plaque with the INRI letters. Below his feet in a plaque with HIS which are letters associated with the Catholic faith. On top of the cross arm all covered in sparkles is a mallet, pliers, an unknown drum shaped piece. Hanging from the cross arm are two unidentified wooden pieces. A ladder with 5 rung leans against the back of the cross along with a long spear and sponge on a pole. On the base is a post with cloth going over it on one side representing the robe of Jesus, and on the other is a pedestal with a rooster on top. There is a bible in front of the cross. The tools and symbols are coated with sparkles. There is a blue cloth covering the bottom of the bottle. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper with a carved decorative top. The bottle has a very small chip along the lip of the opening.
