Bottle 472 - Crucifixion Vigil
Date Added: 17 June 2007

This is a wonderful scene of the crucifixion with people and symbols. This is bottle containing the cross with Jesus and the two crosses of the thieves. In addition, there are figures of Jesus and Mary, two angels, and the three wise men. All the figures are made from plastic and are from an old nativity set from the 1940 - 1950's. All three crosses and the elaborate base they are positioned on are painted white sprinkled with small flakes of foil or glitter. Jesus is shown with blood from his hands, feet, the wound in his side and the crown of thorns. At the base of his feet is a ladder with 7 rungs. The ladder is painted the same as the crosses. On the right side of the cross arm is a large red heart with speckles, and on the left side is a large axe painted white and red. Above the head of Jesus is a INRI plaque. Each cross of the two thieves has an angel with wings hanging in place of the thieves. In front of the cross of Jesus is Mary to the rights side and Joseph on the left. Both are shown in a kneeling position. On the back row of the base are the three wise men. Additionally, these is a single green plastic fir tree. In front of the ladder is a small pine cone. The bottle is a gallon jug with a single handle. It is sealed with a cork.
