Date Added: 01 October 2005
This is a very old and beautiful crucifixion scene containing the symbols usually associated with the crucifixion. The cross is natural wood with the ends carved in relief. There is an INRI plaque toward the top. Where the cross intersects is attached a coined/shaped Oblate, which shows the lamb and cross "Auferstehungs" symbol. In there area where the feet would have rested are three wooden nail pegs. Across the cross is fastened a spear, sponge on a long pole and a flail with white rope wired into position. The base of the cross is carved so that the square shaped peg on the bottom can mortise into the cross tied base. On the base are three dice. On one of the dice are wooden pliers, another has a mallet, and the third a carved roster with red crown and tail. Additionally, there is a gruesome looking post where Jesus was scourged. On this post are metal shackles. There is also a lantern and a ladder leaning against the cross. On the bottom are 2 green pieces of cloth with a white flower in the center. The bottle is sealed with a cork and is rectangular shaped with the name "Sanhana" embossed along the length of one side.
