Bottle 1480 - Eingericht in a Bottle
Date Added: 04 November 2021

The art of putting models in a bottle is over 300 years old. In theAllgäu (Allgaeu) and Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) regions there were the so-called EINGERICHTE, also called GEDULDSFLASCHEN (patience bottles). They show nativity and passion scenes, Christ, Mary and other saints. It was my intention to put such a scene of the crucifixion of Christ into a 350 ml apothecary bottle and to show the origin of the ships in bottles. The corpus of Christ is made of finely grained boxwood, the cross itself of pear, the two vessels are made of brass on the lathe and the skull at the feet of the crucified is made of real cattle bone.
