Bottle 525 - Rocking Chair |
---|
Date Added: 18 October 2007
This is a bottle with a rocking chair built inside. The chair is made from in natural dark wood and is fairly crudely built but very folksy. The chair seat has 4 slats. The back has two cross slats. And there are slats between each of the legs. The legs and uprights are square pieces of wood approximately 3/8" thick. The back flares out as you get toward the top. The chair is in a dark green Dixie Wine Company bottle, from Richmond, VA. "4/5 quarts" is raised on the glass on the bottom front. On the bottom are the words "Dixie Wine Co. Richmond, VA" and the numbers 8 and 455. There is a symbol in the center of the bottom that looks like a G and an U entwined. A cluster of grapes is top center on the front and back of the bottle. There are diamond shapes on each side. The neck is fairly long and has 7 rings near the bottom of the neck. The top is sealed with a long wooden shaft with a crudely carved checker-like piece on top. The shaft has a dark wooden peg going through it making it impossible to remove the shaft from the bottle.
