Bottle - KP-N Thunderbird and Fish Totem in a Bottle
Date Added: 04 February 2017

This is an interesting whimsey built in an 1890's in a Sca Carter's Master Ink Bottle. Overall, it gives you the impression of a totem, with a Thunderbird and Fish somewhat similar of those from the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast of Canada and the United States. The overall wood is a very dark natural wood with colored silver highlights. The base is a lap joint "x" with a tall center square post. Midway on the post is a triangle shape starting at the mid-point of the post with a triangle point near the base. In the center of the triangle is a large dowel piece holding a crosspiece to the post midway in the triangle. On the front side are two carved posts with a silver painted platform. In the platform is an approximately two inch Thunderbird carved with spread wings. The bird's body and tip of its wings are also painted silver. Above the bird is a large silver plaque with the letters "KP-N" carved in dark wood. On the backside are two large carved posts coming from the base. The posts are dark wood with silver highlights. Near the top of the posts are two crudely carved fish with one in front of the other designed to open in an "x" shape. The bottle is sealed with a square stopper that holds the structure to the base. The bottle is sealed with a leather colored wax. It is unknown what the KP-N signifies and any information would be appreciated.
