Bottle 920 - Lynx in a Bottle |
---|
Date Added: 29 August 2015
This is a a model of the Lynx, an 1812 Privateer. Lynx is a square topsail schooner used as a privateer in the war of 1812. The original Lynx completed one voyage, running the Royal Navy blockade; the British captured her in 1813 at the start of her second voyage and took her into service as HMS Mosquidobit. This model has two masts and nine sails flying as well as an American flag. The ship is nicely detailed with both standing and running rigging and the shrouds have ratlines. There is a second ship, a miniature brig, inside the neck of the bottle. The bottle rests on a custom wooden stand with the word "Lynx" caved in the wood. The artist's name B Stratton is also on the stand.
