Bottle 749 - Crucifixion Scene
Date Added: 26 April 2011

This is a wonderful crucifixion scene of Jesus hanging on the cross surrounded by many religious symbols. Almost all of the elements in the bottle are made from wood and painted in a gold color. Jesus is carved with amazing detail. His facial features are very prominent along with his rib cage, loin cloth, fingers and toes. He is wearing a crown of thorns painted black, and red blood is portrayed on the hands and forearms, hair, ribcage, knees and feet. Above the head of Jesus is a paper plaque with "INRI" written on it. The cross is mounted on a wooden base. On the base to one side is a pair of pliers, club, axe, and flail and a long pole with a sponge. On the other side is are three stacked dice, a hammer, a roster on a pedestal, a cane, and a spear on a long pole. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper which extends down to the top of the cross. There is a wooden crosspiece making it impossible to remove the stopper.
