Bottle 63 - Le Galee |
---|
Date Added: 01 October 2005
A Venetian Warship used against the Turkish in a bottle. This is a full hulled model with one mast in full sail. Nicely rigged and the sail has stitching across the lower part and thread "bending" it to the spar. The deck has a raised section in bow and stern with a ladder going up to each. There are 5 grated hatches on the deck. Two flags with crosses fly separately form the stern area. The ship has a capstan, several other deck features including an anchor. A full rudder is exposed. The bottle is tamper sealed with a cork and rope positioned around the cork and bottle open. The maker, Andreas Fischer, was a binnenfischer by trade and was a frequent guest of a restaurant owned by the seller of this auction. He made numerous ships in bottles and static ship models that were displayed around the restaurant and many were sold to guests and patrons of the restaurant.
