Bottle 527 - Potosi |
---|
Date Added: 29 June 2007
This is a wonderful scene of the ship "Potosi" anchored near a large town. The hull of the ship is red on the bottom and the rest is black with the top white except fro a thin black line in the middle of the white. The name Potosi is painted on the bow of the ship. Several port holes are painted in black. The ship has 5 masts with double yard arms. There is very detailed standing and running rigging with the shrouds in black and the remaining rigging white. In the water is a large buoy with a red bottom, white middle and black top. On the buoy are the initials "TC" for the maker, Theodor Carstensen. The land is full of buildings with 9 different structures including a church with a large steeple, windmill, lighthouse, government buildings, and more. There are 6 trees among the buildings. The bottle is sealed with a cork wrapped in Reynolds wrap. It sits on a large homemade stand with tiled polished Berne stones. Theodor Carstensen is a co-author of the book "Der Perfekte Buddelschiffbauer" and very similar ships to this model are shown in his book.
