Ships, Folk Art, and Whimsey in Bottles

This is a late 1800 yarn winder, or sheinwinder, built in an unidentified aqua blue two mold bottle. The base is elevated above the curve of the bottom of the bottle with small tapered wooden legs under each cross piece and one in the center. The upright piece of the winder is curved along the length and has cut out to form a handle like appearance at the top. The winder has thin arms with dowels on the end of each arm. There are pink and gray yarn threads (likely faded over the years) wrapped around the winder. The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper with a curved dowel cross arm going though the stopper making it tamper proof. On one end of the cross arm is a white ball of yarn and on the other cross arm is a red/pink ball. A white ball hangs from the main wooden stopper. There is a square wooden carving on top of the wooden stopper. It is notched cut and has a distinctive cross cut pattern on each side and on the top.
