Bottle 451 - Jesus with Roman Guards |

Date Added: 21 November 2006
This is a very interestingly conceived scene of Jesus hanging at the cross with 4 sentries on each side of the cross. Jesus is carved in wood and is shown with a beard, dark eyes and hair and a loin cloth. He is hanging on a black cross and id "pinned" to the cross with wire on top of the figure and at waist level that goes through the cross and twists together in the back of the cross. Above Jesus' head is an INRI plaque. The cross is mounted on a natural colored dark single base with a "U" slot on one side . There are two "U" pieces attached to the side of the base piece making a cross or plus sign. In the three slotted pieces are three carved wooden sentries with their legs in the slot and attached with a wire going through the "U" slot. The side without the slot is in the front of the cross and has a red ladder with the ends over the base with a wire pin going through it like the other pieces. One of the sentries is climbing on this ladder. The men each have red paint legs and gray shirts and arm sleeves. They had black hair, beards and dark eyes like the figure of Jesus. The men are wearing red hats or turbans. The arms of the sentries are elongated with tools on each hand. The man on the ladder has what looks to be a sponge in on hand and a spear with red tip in the other. The man to his right has a hammer in one hand and a saw in the other. The man to the left has a spear with a red tip in each hand. The man on the back side of the cross has a spear in one hand and an hatchet in the other. This man is most bizarre because of a very large carved rooster standing on the man's head. The rooster is actually larger than any of the other figures in the bottle and is palely colored in green and red paint to depict feathers. Under the base pieces is a piece of paper covering the bottom of the bottle. The paper has the following information spelled as shown here: "Alex D. Farrah, Technitin, Psychologist" There is a final word under this but cannot be deciphered. The "C" in each word is written backwards. The bottle is marked "CANADA 17 FL. OZ. size" and is sealed with a Bakelite screw cap.
