Bottle 433 - Cross and Symbols
Date Added: 04 July 2006

This bottle was built in 1902 and contains a cross and numerous religious symbols. The cross is in natural wood and rests on a wooden base in a "T" shape. The cross has an INRI plaque near the top and there are darn wooden pegs where Jesus' hands and feet would have been nailed. Right below the peg for the feet are 3 dice in a pyramid shape glued to the cross upright. Immediately below that is a flail positioned sideways on the upright. It is white with red thread wrapped around it and forming the whips. Below the flail is an unidentified piece of wood with one end cut on the diagonal. There are three distinct dots midway and toward the squared end. There is a large crown of thorns in dark wood where the cross arm intersects the upright of the cross. On one side of the cross arm is a chalice and there is a lantern on the other side. On the base is a spear and a sponge on long slender poles and extending up to the cross arm. The bottle is sealed with a cork. Under the base is unidentified writing, possibly the name of the maker of this bottle. The date of 1902 is written in the center.
