Date Added: 01 October 2005
This is a model of a spinning wheel in a bottle. The Spinning Wheel is approximately 5 1/2' x 5 1/2' and is mounted in a mixed color of clay covering the bottom of the bottle. The Spinning Wheel is the classic style and shape found in the 1800's. There is a large amount of flax extending from the bobbin area opposite the wheel side. Etched in cursive writing on the bottle are the words: "Made by Willard Schribner for Dan Carter." The bottle is sealed with a wooden stopper with a wonderful wooden cap on top. There is a cross-piece going through the wooden stopper making the bottle tamper-proof. Going through each side of that crosspiece are two other crosspieces making is "impossible for that piece to come out. The bottle itself is in the shape of an apple with molded leaves on the top sections of the bottle and the two bottle handles are made to resemble the stem of the apple.
