Bottle 1446 - Thread Spool in a Bottle
Date Added: 20 August 2020

This "Thread Spool and Stopper" whimsy bottle is simple in concept but difficult in execution. The wooden thread spool was divided into 8 semi-equal pieces and reassembled inside of the bottle. Multiple layers of thread were then wound around the spool. The final touch is a ‘no-trick’ stopper. The stopper is made from 5 separate pieces of wood with two wooden dowels holding the pieces together then secured with 4 copper wire keepers. The stopper pieces are solid and there is no trickery involved with the assembly, it was assembled while inside of the bottle. The crossbars on the top of the stopper on the outside are there to illustrate the assembly as the stopper will not fall into the bottle as the spool will stop it from doing so. The bottle is 5 ½" tall x 2 ¾’ widest x ¾" inside neck diameter.
