Bottle 1417 - Barca a Pale in a Bottle
Date Added: 07 October 2019

"Barca a Pale" is Leonardo da Vinci's Boat built in a bottle. It was made with walnut and arice and is inserted in a 50 cl. bottle. The model is built so that the Sailor crushes (pushes) the wheel at the bottom with his feet, and at the same time with his hands raises the pegs of the two upper wheels to turn the shovels in the water. To change direction it was necessary to have the presence of a helmsman, The Artist highlighted the figures of the sailor and the helmsman with wire bent to form their shape. Picture 1417b illustrates the various pieces that need to be assembled. The base of the boat was done in a very precise way since the model is designed and made so that it touches all and five inner walls of the Guinness container. On the bottom of the boat is the name of the Artist "Aidano Dallafiora" and the year it was made "2019." The bottle is sealed with sealing wax and rests on a custom plinth block.
