Bottle - Dresser with Bird in a Bottle |
---|
Date Added: 10 January 2019
1930 Dresser in Bottle with Bird made for Verna C. Minarik. This type of bottle is well known but this example is different than the rest in that it has a carved bird on top of the dresser and a very thin blown glass Christmas Bell ornament hanging down from the stopper in the neck inside. On the back is a printed card that says "Verna C. Minarik 1895 Jan 11 1930". The recipient may be Vera C. Minarik (1910-1972) of Plainview, Nebraska but it could be another person with the same name born in 1895. It isn't signed by the maker but other bottle of this type have had "MHL," "Jacob Arner," or "John Serfass" carved in the back of the dresser as a makers's name. The bottle is sealed with an original cork.
