The Gjøa was the first ship to negotiate the Northwest Passage. Roald Amundsen managed this in 1906 with a crew of six men after more than three years of travel. This is a scaled model diorama of the model with icecaps in the water and glacier in the background. The single masted ship flies 5 sails and many detail deck features. It sails with its working crew.
