Bottle - Alert 1777 Naval Cutter in a Bottle |
---|
Date Added: 04 January 2018
The hull of the naval cutter ALERT from 1777 had to be divided vertically to fit through the bottle neck. The gunners on the railing were added in the bottle, just as the whole rigging followed later after the two halves of the hull were reunited in the bottle. Millimetre by millimetre, the mast fixed to the top and bottom of the long yarn was roped down. The ALERT now hangs like a church donation ship from the ceiling on the transparent nylon thread in the bottle.
