The German ship-rigged windjammer PREUSSEN was build 1902 and the world's only ship of this class with five masts. This was the reason for Matthias Schultz to choose this vessel for the biggest model he has made until now (2017). Named after the German state and kingdom of Prussia, she was also estimated to be the fastest sailing ship after the clipper era. To fit her immense length of 137,5 m into a three-liter bottle he minimized the scale to 1:600, so that the model has now the length of nearly 25 cm, the hulk is divided into serval parts. The sea is made by a mixture of sealant and gypsum and a little bit choppy with numerous whitecaps. In front of the fore there is standing the lighthouse ROTER SAND which is located in the German Bight and was built as the world’s first offshore building in 1885. The ship has got 47 sails, the rig is made in parts from human hair. There are multiple hatches, cabins, and other deck details. The bottle is locked by cork, covered with sealing wax. It is stamped with an original German coin showing the Imperial Eagle from 1910 when the PREUSSEN run ashore at Dover. It took nearly three month to build up this model.
