Bottle 339 - Rocking Chair

This is a nice folk art rocking chair put together inside the bottle. The chair is made from natural wood and is very well made. The front legs are turned wood with pegged ends. The rear legs are made up from curved square wood. Between the back uprights are 2 backboards, one is straight cut and one has an arched top. The arms of the chair are rounded on the end and the upright pegs show through. There are 4 stretchers holding the seat. The seat is very loosely woven from a heavy rope-like thread in red and white. The rockers are curved with a angle cut on the rear end of the rockers. The bottle is sealed with a long, large wooden stopper shaft. Inside the bottle there is a carved cross piece going through the shaft making it impossible to remove the stopper. Along the shaft there are the following words: "Made in Kansas City, MO. 7/1964. The initials of the maker "A.N" are also written on the shaft. On the shaft outside the bottle is a large dome-like cap pained in red.
