Over the Hill
Date Added: 25 August 2010
This was a belated birthday gift for my sister & the first bottle I ever made as a gift. The words are made from pine, each word being entirely one piece of wood, not a simple task with such a soft wood. They are glued to the glass & each other. In the bottom & visible only at the right angle is a printed view of the hill she is about to go over which has been glued to the back of the bottle. The crossbar, though the pictures don't show it, perfectly touches the sides so the top cannot be pulled up. It is topped with a turned wooden knob-shaped stopper. Now I know why I have never made bottles as gifts. Subconsciously, I knew that I like them more than anyone else & wish I could keep them all. With stopper it is 5" tall, the bottle itself is 3 13/16" tall, 4" wide, 1 15/16 "thick, and has about a 1/2" diameter opening. The crossbar reads on front- HAPPY B-DAY LISA ANNE WOOD-HARMON right side- 7-21-10 (this is her birthday, not when I finished it, which was like a week later) left side- Made in Kentucky & back side- MADE BY CHRIS WOOD YOUNGER BROTHER
