This is a scene of the Ship "Greif" and the Tug "Triton" in a harbor. The Greif has three masts and is flying the flag of Germany. The Tug "Triton also flies the German flag. It has two decks and a large black smokestack with bellowing white/grey smoke. The city has seven large colorful buildings with multiple windows in each. There is also a large windmill and a tall lighthouse. In the water is a red buoy with a "T" on one side and a "C" on the other. This is the typical way the artist Theodor Carstensen identified his work using his initials. The bottle is also sealed in the artist's usual manner with a cork wrapped with aluminum foil.
Theodor Carstensen is a co-author of the book "Der Perfekte Buddelschiffbauer" and very similar ships to this model are shown in his book. More in formation on him can be found at: http://folkartinbottles.com/artists/artists-a-d/11-theodor-carstensen
