AndenKen an Maria TaFerl
Date Added: 01 October 2005
This is a scene of the crucifixion in natural wood. The cross is two simple caved pieces of natural wood mortised together. Draping the cross is a cloth banner with crosses drawn on each end and one in the center. At the top of the cross is a small wooden plaque with INRI penciled on. The cross is attached to a wooden cross pieced base. On the front cross piece are 3 dice in a pyramid shape. Behind the dice and toward the cross is a carved wooden heart with 3 flower-like shapes extending up. Beside that is a wooden ladder with 6 rungs and a rooster oblate between the 2nd and 3rd rungs from the top. On the reverse side of the cross on the base are carved wooden pliers and a mallet on a long shaft. On the other cross piece is a lantern made with spindles and with a round wire holder on the top. On the other side is a wooden chalice and flail with ropes made from string and knots tied into the ends of each. Crisscrossing the whole cross in an "X" shape is a long wooden spear to one side and a sponge on a long wooden pole to the other side. Written in pencil on the bottom base is the following: "AndenKen an Maria TaFerl” (In Memory of Maria TaFerl) The bottle is sealed by a carved 1 1/2" natural wood shaft which has sealing wax on the top.
