Buddha
Date Added: 01 October 2005
A magnificent Buddha temple scene in a bottle. The wood for making this temple has been painted gold over a red coat which lets the red show through in a very interesting way. The base is put in 4 sections and the temple is built on that. Multiple pieces have been inserted to form the wall posts, layered roof and top piece. Buddha is wonderfully carved and is shown in a robe with shoulder bare. He is built in multiple sections and sits on a raised platform or seat. On Buddha's right is a vase with a large white flower (possibly a lotus blossom. On the left is another vase with a red plumed flower. Beautifully carved ornamental carved archetypal pieces rise from the base in two sections and are present on all four sides of the temple. There are many different and colorful glass blown beads around the temple - 4 on top of poles coming from the base, a large silver and gold bead in front of Buddha, 16 on the corners of the tiered roof, 4 dangling from hooked red decorations on the top, and finally, 5 hanging from the sphere on the very top. The top is held in place by the cork sealing the neck opening. The cork has various numbers and the word "Ducklings" on the side. This was brought back from Burma by a British soldier after the conflict of 1930-32.
