Harbor Scene of a Bark
Date Added: 27 April 2011
This is a very old and extremely well made 4 mast Bark at anchor in a harbor outside a large town. The Bark is anchored on a calm sea of blue/green. It has a white hull and natural colored deck. There are four masts with white tips on the masts and yardarms. It has both standing and running rigging that is very detailed and accurate. Along the side of the Bark is a small tug. Near the tug is a buoy painted red and white. There is a very simple sailboat in the water near a black and white lighthouse. The town is built on a hillside that rises high in the back of the bottle creating multiple layers of land. There are approximately 42 buildings of various sizes, all painted white with windows and doors in black and red roofs. There is also a white church with a steeple. The land is colored to show vegetation. The back of the bottle is painted blue inside the bottle to make a sky effect. The bottle is sealed with a cork and the neck is painted black. Under the sea is a paper with what looks has a name. It is hard to make out but appears to be "E. JACOBSEN, presumably the builder of this wonderful model.
