Below that the cross is painted black. There are carved "X" patterns on the cross and grooved at each end of the crosspieces and the top. A lantern hangs from one side of the cross and a red flail with a gold handle from the other. At the base of the cross are 4 tree-like poles (one has come dislodged). There is a gold ladder with 6 rungs. There is a spear, sponge on the end of a pole, and a roster on the end of another pole. There is a long pair of pliers, and a mallet. The base is black The bottle is sealed with a cork with a piece of wire extending from the cork to the top of the cross holding it in place.
