Steamship Gustav in a Bottle
Date Added: 09 December 2017
GUSTAV was built in 1908 and now operates as a pleasure boat in Potsdam near Berlin on the river Havel. The lower part of the ship is made of plywood, the upper part of the ship is made of a plastic yoghurt cup due to the thin bulwark. The superstructures are made of various pieces of wood, the sun canopy is made of Japanese paper. The railing and flagpoles are made of plastic broom bristles. As the original, the model can lay its chimney in the bottle. In the background you can see the Flatower Tower in Babelsberger Park. The builder and his family passed him 2015 when they were on their way by ship on his mother's birthday. GUSTAV has been also the name of the father of the builder’s maternal grandfather. The bottle is a Christmas present to her.
