Schulschiff Deutschland in a Bottle
Date Added: 30 October 2017
Schulschiff Deutschland ("School Ship Germany") is a German full-rigged sail training ship, maintained as a historical monument and museum ship. She was employed as a school ship for the merchant marine beginning in 1927. The ship is moored at Vegesack, in the Federal State of Bremen, Germany. Since the name "Deutschland" was at the time of its construction already assigned to an unbuilt naval warship, its official name is "Schulschiff Deutschland". Matthias Schultz, born in Bremen 1972, has chosen this ship because he married there 2013. She was the first scratch model bottle ship he made. To pass the hulk through the bottle neck he separated the deck with the three masts from the rest of the ship. On the foredeck he placed two little figures showing his wife and him in wedding suit. The bottle is closed by cork, sealed and decorated with Turk’s Head knot on the bottle neck.
