Date Added: 22 September 2017
"In the early months of 2017 the Ships in Bottles museum at Enkhuizen exist 25 years. To celebrate this we, members of the association of ships in bottle builders where invited to give a demonstration how to build a ship in a bottle. The location was de nearby Zuiderzeemuseum. This museum shows how the fisherman lives, works and the ships they used. The museum has different villages whit a church, harbour and little shops and places where you can see how old professions where showed. 3 days, 3 members of WAB, (welkom aan boord, the name of our association), showed how to magic the ships in the bottle. The success was great. We had visitors of all places in Holland that came especially for our demonstrations and even from Belgium. The SIB museum asked us to make a model of one of their fishing ships, of the type Blazer to give to the Zuiderzeemuseum. I had prepared 2 little one’s that where nog finest yet. I had planned to make them in front of the public but because there where so many people all 3 days that the only thing I could do was talking and explaining how things worked by making a SIB. I have given one model to the SIB museum and the one that fly’s in the sky I hold for myself. " Frans Dekker
