This is a depiction of 2 galleons near a small island in the aftermath of a bad storm. The scene shows one of the ships partly submerged and sinking with the stern and one mast still visible. The other ship also suffering damage is nearby. There island has a lighthouse and a house. The bottle is sealed with a carved tulip-like wooden stopper.
