Bottle 964 - Wawona in a Bottle

Built in 1897 in Fairhaven, California by noted Scandinavian shipwright Hans Ditlev Bendixsen, the Wawona was one of the largest three-masted schooners built in North America. Designed to carry lumber from Washington State to California and more distant ports, the Wawona sailed with a minimal crew and without ballast for the Dolbeer & Carson Lumber Company. This is a model of the Wawona built in a Crown royal bottle by Vic Crosby. The ship sails on a blue sea and there is a small plaque in front of the ship that says: "Wawona." A colorful green parrot with long tail feathers is perched on a wire hanger suspended from the top of the bottle. There are small white sea gulls painted on the inside of the bottle. Under the sea is a tag that has the following information: "John and __?__ Murphy from Vic and Aleen Crosby."
