Bottle 942 - Pamir at Husum Harbor, Germany in a Bottle

This is a wonderful and amazing scene of the four-masted barque Pamir, a windjammer designed for ultra-long voyages, anchored outside a harbor at Husum, Germany. In addition to the name Pamir on the bow the name Lubeck is written toward the stern of the ship. In a corner of St. Jacob's Church (known as the seafarers church) in Lubeck, Germany is a memorial to the windjammer Pamir. Along side the Pamir is a tug named Wulf II. The town scene is made from wood and is colorfully hand painted. It is full of large buildings and many well-known landmarks such as the church Marienkirche, the water tower, Husumer Wasserturm, a windmill and a grave memorial to Theodor Storm. Theodor Storm was a German writer who wrote a number of stories, poems and novellas. A large airplane named the Hansa flies over the scene. In the water are two buoys with the letters TC painted on each. TC stands for Theodor Carstensen, the artist of this bottle. Theodor Carstensen is a co-author of the book "Der Perfekte Buddelschiffbauer" and very similar ships to this model are shown in his book. The bottle rests on a wonderful base made from wood in the shape of the ribs and keel of a ship. It has a mosaic front made from tiled polished Berne stones. There are two shields and a banner with the words "Seefahrt Ist Not" (Maritime Distress) painted on the front. The bottle is sealed with a cork wrapped in foil.
