Bottle 468 - St Guenole in a Bottle

This is a French fishing boat named the St. Guenole. It is displayed as a whole hull model built in a decanter. The sloop's hull is red on the bottom third, the middle third is painted white , and the top third is painted light blue. The ship has a single mast with four sails and flies the French flag. The rigging is wonderful and the ship is rigged exactly as the actual ship would be including blocks and tackle. The ship sits on a pedestal that is secured to the bottom of the bottle. The decanter itself is mounted on a wonderful turned base with the name "St. Guenole" inscribed on a plaque. This model is of the French fishing boat (scalloper) built in 1948 at Camaret (Bretagne). It was restored by Y. Clochet at Plouguiel (Bretangne). Today, it is part of the French sailing maritime heritance. This model was built after a postcard, bought in Brest, with the ship on one side and the measurements of the ship on the other. The construction drawing was made with CorelDraw on a scale to fit the decanter specifically chosen for this model.
