Bottle 1343 - Saccoleva in a Bottle

The type of Saccoleva ship operated on the Mediterranean from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. The name derives from the mainsail and means "raised sack". The round bottle shape required that the ship had to be inserted from above and not from the side into the container. The yarn therefore didn't run over the bowsprit, but out of the bottle neck via the mast tips. This is only 1.6 cm in diameter. In addition, the quite wide hull had to be divided vertically, the main mast moved into the bottle separately from the hull halves.
