Bottle 1325 - Three Teeth of the Epiphany in Bottle

Monstrance (ostensorium) for the wisdom teeth of Epiphany Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. These three Magi are purported to be buried in the Shrine of the Three Kings in Cologne Cathedral after their remains being moved from Constantinople by Eustorgius I in 314 AD to Milan and in 1164 Holy Roman Emperor Fredrick Barbarossa moved them to Cologne where Matthias Schultz lived in the year 2010. In the vessel, normally used in Roman Catholic, Old Catholic and Anglican churches for the more convenient exhibition of some object of piety or reliquary for the public display of relics of some saints, are stored three real wisdom teeth. Nobody can say (like from the other remains shown in the churches) if they had ever belonged to the declared persons or possibly to the owner of this monstrance;) The teeth are presented on red velvet which is gilded by a golden bordure. The vessel itself is cased from mat silver shining metal, maybe tin. Its’ origin could be from East Asia, maybe there has been some perfume in before.
